Kimono (Jinbei) Jacket - Indigo Samurai Geometric Print & Layered Floral Sleeves
"Jinbei Jacket" is a comfortable adaptation of the casual Kimono, or "Jinbei," typically worn during humid summer in Japan.
Why is it called Samurai Print? The geometric pattern on the body reminded me of the distinctive uniform worn by the Shinsengumi, the famous group of Samurai warriors who were active in Kyoto, Japan, in the mid-19th century.
But I learned (thanks to this Indian fabric!) that Shinsengumi's uniforms were actually inspired by the uniforms worn by the 47 Ronin, a group of masterless Samurai, in Japan's most famous revenge incident, which took place about 160 years earlier than Shinsengumi.
