Non-Traditional Outfit Ideas for This Festive Season

With the start of the festive season, everyone is trying to dress up in the most elegant way.

It’s not only the Dusshera and Diwali, but it’s also the time of the year of the beautiful ‘happily ever after’ celebrations.

Before you choose your festive look, let’s discover some elegant looks without the typical shiny and glittery materials. Diwali is not just about expensive, ostentatious clothing and jewellery. You don’t have to be immersed in bling to make an impact when everyone around you is sparkle-soaked.

So get rid of those glittery and shiny sarees and lehengas that will make you look like a disco ball shining too bright. Here is some of our non-traditional yet elegant and chic festive wear.

1. Fabric

Variety and diversity are no surprise in the Indian context. From the array of delicacies to the unique customs, traditions and festivals we celebrate, every state has its own cultural identity. And an essential part of that is the attire of the people. We took a journey from the roots of fashion and found some beautiful artisanal fabrics for this festive season.

2.Throw Some Bright Colours

Usually festive or Shaadi season means various family get-togethers and pujas, not to forget temple visits, all of which means we have to be dressed up all day and night. So why celebrate it with neutral colours, when you can add some dark red and a pop of emerald green. What could be a better time to indulge in bright colours and make a statement without the traditional overload of glitter and sparkle?

3. Boho Chic

One of the most spectacular and feminine styles that exist as trends in the world of fashion is the boho or bohemian one. It’s perfect for the festive season as it uses traditional clothes with a playful twist.

4. Spice Up Your Saree

Is it only me or everyone has a problem with draping a saree perfectly? Well, thanks to these fashionista’s they did the maths for us and Voila! They found Indo-western saree drapes.

Try this fabulous street style look by pairing up your favourite saree with a t-shirt and belt it up with the pallu:

Saree is the most versatile garment in Indian clothing. It can be paired up with almost anything and can be draped in numerous ways. One of the coolest ways is to wear it with a blazer. Wear a bright coloured saree with a cotton blazer and drape your saree in a usual way or else, drape your pallu like a lehenga dupatta.

Let us know: what’s your favourite look and what will you wear this festive season?
